Building Codes

The Building Codes Council of the State of South Carolina has mandated the use of certain codes in the state of South Carolina. The codes and editions are listed below.

Commercial  -  More than two family residential

• International Building Code 2003 Edition
• International Plumbing Code 2003 Edition
• International Mechanical Code 2003 Edition
• International Fuel/Gas Code 2003 Edition
• International Fire Code 2003 Edition
• International Energy Efficiency Code 2003
• National Electrical Code 2002 Edition

Residential

• International Residential Code 2000 Edition

Effective July 1, 2005 the International Residential Code 2003 Edition will be in effect for all residential one and two family dwellings. This code reflects all phases of residential construction.

Our code enforcement officers can help clarify code sections you may find difficult. However, we are not able to design structures.
